We offer multilayered support to innovative ICT4D projects within our thematic areas (democracy, education, and health) in our prioritized partner countries. Financial support consists of catalytic seed funding (maximum SEK 500,000) for innovative projects of 1-2 years of duration. Projects should be carried out as multi-stakeholder partnerships, with the aim to generate long term growth, upscaling, and lasting impact. We prioritize projects that are co-funded by other partners.
We also assist projects with knowledge and expertise. We have a program of Junior ICT Experts, young ICT graduates who work on site for short periods, assisting project partners with technical expertise. We also support research related to our projects. The research, which is carried out by Swedish and local scholars, strengthens the monitoring and evaluation of projects, while adding empirically grounded analyses to the global ICT4D knowledge base. Our project officers are qualified researchers (PhD level) who contribute their knowledge and expertise to the management and coordination of projects.
We organize projects into networks, to promote synergistic collaboration and cross-breeding. These networks can be thematic and/or geographic, and we support their facilitation. The networks help to leverage projects, adding linkages, visibility, and scalability. We also connect our projects and partners with relevant initiatives, experts, policy makers, and funders.
