Digital innovations play a transformative role in achieving this goal by revolutionising city planning, infrastructure, and community engagement in both urban and rural spaces. SPIDER has worked with Kigali city authorities but also smart village project in Rwanda to testify to this.<\/p>\n<p>Digital technologies facilitate smarter urban planning, enabling cities to optimize resources, manage infrastructure, and mitigate environmental impacts. From data-driven decision-making to the implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT) sensors for real-time monitoring, these innovations streamline resource allocation and enhance sustainability.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"et_d4_element et_pb_column_1_2 et_pb_column et_pb_column_2  et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode et-last-child et_block_column\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_module et_d4_element et_pb_text et_pb_text_3  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p>If correctly implemented, digitalisation can foster inclusive and participatory communities. Online platforms and mobile applications facilitate citizen engagement, enabling residents to voice concerns, contribute ideas, and participate in local governance processes. This inclusivity cultivates a sense of ownership and promotes collaborative efforts towards sustainable urban development.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, smart mobility solutions, powered by digital transformations, optimize transportation systems, reducing congestion and emissions while improving accessibility. Additionally, the integration of digital tools in disaster preparedness and response enhances urban resilience, ensuring cities are better equipped to handle crises.<\/p>\n<p>In essence, the synergy between SDG 11 and digital transformation is fundamental.
