The Health Alliance for Digital Development and Action (HADDA) is a SPIDER-led project dedicated to improving Somalia’s maternal and child health outcomes through digital health technologies. SPIDER recognises the health information system as the backbone of the healthcare infrastructure.
By implementing an Electronic Health Record (EHR), the project seeks to strengthen digital infrastructure, particularly in rural and underserved areas, to ensure reliable data transmission and real-time reporting. This approach enhances equitable access to health information, empowering healthcare providers and decision-makers. To support these efforts, the implementing partners conducted needs assessments to identify the infrastructure and human resources needed, to make sure the system met the needs of the health care workers.
To ensure a long-term impact, the project also focuses on building national capacity. A team consisting of health workers, researchers, and data managers provide continuous training to empower health workers and officials to take ownership of the EHR, laying the foundation for a more resilient and self-sustaining health system.
SPIDER is committed to transforming maternal and child health in Somalia by leveraging digital technologies and building the capacity of local health officials, as it will improve health outcomes for mothers and children across the nation.
