The Health Alliance for Digital Development and Action (HADDA), coordinated by SPIDER, is dedicated to improving Somalia’s maternal and child health outcomes through digital health technologies. HADDA recognises the health information system as the backbone of the healthcare infrastructure and focuses on effective data collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination.
The programme aims to strengthen digital infrastructure, particularly in rural and underserved areas, to ensure reliable data transmission and real-time reporting. This approach enhances equitable access to health information, empowering healthcare providers and decision-makers.
To support these efforts, HADDA conducts needs assessments and technical audits to identify the necessary digital infrastructure and skilled personnel for a comprehensive Health Management Information System (HMIS). This system is crucial for informed decision-making and evaluating healthcare interventions.
Collaborating with SPIDER, the Public Health Agency of Sweden (PHAS), and SCB, HADDA also enhances the skills of officials from the Somali Ministry of Health and related institutions. Training participants in data analysis and visualisation promotes knowledge transfer and sustainability in Somalia’s public health sector.
HADDA is committed to transforming maternal and child health in Somalia by leveraging digital technologies and building the capacity of local health officials, which will improve health outcomes for mothers and children across the nation.
